Function: Iron is an essential trace element that occurs in haemoglobin and myoglobin.
- Haemoglobin enables the transport of oxygen in the blood.
- Myoglobin is a muscle protein.

Indications: Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia
Side effects: Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, dark stool discoloration.
Contraindications: Children (depending on the product), iron absorption disorders, severe liver and kidney diseases, hypersensitivity, intolerance.
Interactions: May reduce the absorption of other medications (e.g. antibiotics) and thus their effectiveness.
