In the Peruvian Andes grows a wild plant whose root is rich in effective ingredients: the ratanhia. It contains many tannins that are used to care for and protect the gums. The health of the gums determines how well the teeth are nourished, embedded and held. The tannins in ratanhia have an astringent effect on the oral mucosa. This reduces irritation of the gums. This prevents gum problems.
In addition to the extracts of ratanhia root, other herbal ingredients are added: myrrh, which soothes the oral mucosa, and the refreshing essential oils of peppermint and spearmint. Weleda Ratanhia toothpaste has a mineral cleaning agent made of calcium carbonate. It cleans the teeth particularly gently but thoroughly. Regular brushing removes plaque (dental plaque) and thus reliably protects against caries.
