Sea salt in a toothpaste makes sense. This is because salt stimulates the flow of saliva. The teeth, rinsed by abundant flowing saliva, are cleaned in a gentle way. In this way, Weleda Brine Toothpaste supports and strengthens the physiological process of self-cleaning. Weleda Brine Toothpaste does not contain fluoride.
The solid, easily soluble cleaning agent made of sodium bicarbonate removes plaque, thus preventing tooth decay. In addition, the acids that are harmful to the tooth enamel are neutralised, which protects against the formation of tartar in the long term.
Sea salt also helps because it enters into an exchange with the surface of the gums (osmosis) and thus strengthens them.
The ratanhia root extract often used in Weleda dental care supports this effect together with plant extracts of myrrh and chestnut bark as well as aesculin. This prevents irritation of the gums. But the plant extracts of myrrh, chestnut bark and aesculin also support the strengthening of the gums. The sea salt flavour is harmoniously rounded off by the natural essential oil of peppermint.
