“Pompelmo is the culmination of my olfactory journey inspired by Italian citrus fruits. Originally native to Asia, where the fruit was considered sacred and offered to the gods, the grapefruit—like most citrus fruits—first appeared in Seville, Spain, in the 12th or 13th century during Arab rule. Probably one of the most refined citrus fruits—I particularly value grapefruit for its bitter aroma. Unlike sweet scents, which I find obvious and uninspiring, bitterness is, for me, one of the most brilliant scent impressions.”
Perhaps this is due to my Italian background, in which numerous drinks celebrate bitterness.
