Birch sugar (or xylitol) is a sugar substitute that is comparable to regular household sugar in appearance, taste and sweetness. It owes its name to its discovery in the fibres of birch bark. Raab Premium Birch Sugar is obtained from European hardwoods such as birch and produced in Finland. Unlike household sugar, birch sugar has around 40% fewer calories.
Birch sugar naturally occurs in many fruits, berries and vegetables.
