How it all began
Manhattan, originally called ‘Manhatten,’ has stood for cosmetics for more than 50 years. From the beginning, trends and diversity have been an essential part of the brand’s values and identity. In the 1950s, makeup played only a minor role in Germany. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Scheller's vision from the start: to bring globally popular and sought-after products to the German market at affordable prices. When choosing the brand name, he was inspired by New York’s most diverse and exciting district: Manhattan.
