How to choose the right shade?
There are a number of ideal shades that have been scientifically developed through an extensive Global Beauty study with 3000 participants around the world. YSL Beauty created a shade calibration protocol that involved consumers and makeup artists. Using state-of-the-art technology and a spectrophotometer, we were able to create an algorithm that allowed us to scientifically develop the ideal All Hours palette of shades. Every skin tone, from the lightest to the darkest, now has its one matching shade.

1. First, identify the intensity of your skin tone:
   (L) for light, (M) for medium and (D) for dark.
   
   
2. Then identify the undertone of your skin:
   C = Cool, for a rosy tone. N = Neutral, for a pink and golden tone or W = Warm, for a golden tone.
   Defining your undertone is simple: pay attention to the color of your veins on the inside of your wrists: if your veins are green, your tone is warm (W). If they are blue or purple, your tone is cold (C). If they are blue, gray, or mixed, your undertone is neutral. (N)
   
   
3. Now identify the intensity of your skin tone:
   1 represents the lightest tone and 10 represents the darkest tone.
   
   
4. By using the letter for the intensity of your skin tone:
   (L, M or D) + the letter for your skin tone (C, N or W) + the number for the intensity of your skin tone, you will get a combination of 2 letters + 1 number that corresponds to your skin tone! Ex. LW7 = Light skin tone intensity (C) + Warm skin tone (W) + Skin color intensity (7).
