Aptamil AR Thickening Agent for Dietary Management of Regurgitation and Spitting Up – from birth
Aptamil AR Thickening Agent is a powder to be mixed with the baby's usual milk: breast milk or infant formula. It should only be used after consulting a doctor. Aptamil AR Thickening Agent contains: carob bean gum for a specially increased viscosity that reduces milk reflux in the oesophagus. This is an important element for dietary management of regurgitation and spitting up.
Important note: Breastfeeding is ideal for the child. Infant formula should only be used on the advice of a paediatrician or other healthcare professional. Aptamil AR Thickener and Aptamil AR are foods for special medical purposes and should only be used under medical supervision.

Maltodextrin, thickening agent: carob bean gum (0.5 g /100 ml), calcium carbonate, iron sulfate, zinc sulfate
How to use
Dosage: Unless otherwise prescribed by a professional.
Preparation in the bottle: 1 measuring spoon + 100 ml lukewarm breast milk, infant formula
- Wash hands. Sterilise the teat and bottle.
- Express the breast milk or prepare the usual formula according to the manufacturer's preparation instructions (ideally allow it to cool to 40°C).
- Add Aptamil AR thickening agent according to the dosage table above.
- Roll the bottle between your hands (5 seconds) and then shake it well (20 seconds).
- Then let it stand for 7 minutes (to allow the milk to thicken).
- Briefly turn the bottle upside down, then please feed immediately.**
Feeding with a spoon: 1 measuring spoon + 25 ml* lukewarm breast milk, infant formula
- This method can be used for breastfed babies or babies who are already receiving complementary food.
- Add Aptamil AR thickening agent according to the dosage table above to the usual milk or to boiled water.
- Mix both and let the paste stand for 3 minutes to thicken.
- Mix again and then feed with a spoon before or during the meal.
* Can also be prepared with boiled water.
**Prepare the food fresh before each meal and feed immediately. Do not reuse leftover food.
