Orange Blossom Organic Floral Water

The organically grown orange blossom hydrolat is distilled from the freshly picked flowers of the bitter orange tree. In natural cosmetics, it is regarded as a cleansing and nourishing facial toner for all skin types, especially dry and mature skin, but blemish-prone skin also benefits from its valuable components.

As a body splash, it has a balancing, soothing and relaxing effect on the psyche. Also ideal for refreshing on journeys or during hot flushes, as well as a floral-bitter addition to natural perfumes and relaxing room sprays.

From early on it was primarily not the essential oil of the bitter orange that was used, but the orange blossom water, which was brought to Spain by the Arabs as “agua de azahar” and later also became widespread in Italy.

Like almost all citrus types, the bitter orange originates from China, but has been cultivated for centuries in the countries bordering the Mediterranean and is traditionally used there in medicine.

The orange blossom, also called neroli, is valued in traditional Chinese medicine as well as in Mediterranean pharmacology for the treatment of sleep disorders (children and adults), headaches, nervousness and also digestive disorders, such as abdominal cramps.

Discorides (1555) described orange blossom water as “a tonic for the heart and stomach, useful for the treatment of fainting fits after childbirth” – and it is still very popular with midwives and young mothers today. Aside from medicine, neroli has always been used as a wonderfully sweet, intensely floral perfume for scenting people, clothes and homes.
