The credo of founder Josephine Esther (“Esty”, later “Estée”) Mentzer is still upheld by the Estée Lauder brand today, offering women of all ages high-quality luxury products of outstanding quality.
Her Journey
Becoming a beauty icon was almost her destiny: as the daughter of a stylish businessman and a mother devoted to her skincare rituals, and especially as the niece of a chemist, her rise to become the "cosmetics queen," as she would soon be called, seemed almost inevitable.
It was her uncle who taught Estée how to mix velvety face creams, oils, and balms herself, and she soon started selling them at parties, in beauty salons, and increasingly in department stores. In 1946, Estée founded Estée Lauder Companies together with her husband Joseph Lauder, which grew into a successful corporation.
