5 things your scalp will love

It's actually logical: Just as pimples and redness appear sooner or later on an unclean facial skin, the same happens with our scalp. It reacts to neglected or inappropriate care with complaints such as itching, dandruff or sensitivities to any care products. This is quite understandable; and yet few know how important a good scalp routine is.

Is my scalp healthy?

Just as the roots of a tree supply the plant with all the important nutrients, the hair roots supply our hair with everything it needs to become strong, full and shiny. Vitamins and minerals from our food reach the finest capillaries of the scalp via the bloodstream, from where the hair follicles – i.e. hair roots – are supplied with necessary nutrients. A balanced diet is therefore the basis for good hair growth. External influences such as strong temperature changes, dry heating air or unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking or stress also play a role. In addition to genetic factors, all of these have an influence on the condition of our scalp.

While we can hardly or only with difficulty influence some points, we have a decisive point very much in our own hands: A clean scalp.

What your scalp loves:

1. Removal of styling residues

Start your scalp routine with a deep cleanse. Perfect for this are scalp scrubs or treatments. These remove residue from leave-in products, hairspray, gel and other styling products, preventing the pores on the scalp from clogging. Typically, cures are applied to a dry scalp before washing and left on for a few minutes.

2. Mild shampoo

When choosing your shampoo, make sure to use non-irritating products with mild surfactants that gently yet thoroughly cleanse. To avoid stressing the scalp too much, use a shampoo that is suitable for their scalp and that they don't need to wash their hair more than three times a week. If this is difficult, a good dry shampoo helps to bridge the time until the next hair wash.

3. Cold water

When washing your hair, use as cold water as possible to protect the skin. A too high temperature can irritate the scalp, dry it out and cause problems such as dandruff. In addition, the hair also benefits if it is washed only lukewarm or even cold. This is because the lower the water temperature, the more the dandruff layer closes after washing. The advantage: A closed, adjacent cuticle layer reflects the light and gives naturally shiny hair.

4. Gentle massage

Have you ever tried a massage brush for the scalp? The handy tools are perfect to be used right in the shower after washing your hair. A massage improves blood circulation to the scalp and thus optimises the absorption of nutrients.

5. Refreshing tonic

Thanks to the good cleansing, your scalp is now particularly receptive to nutrients. Now is the perfect time for an extra care boost. Hair tonics are ideal for this. With their special ingredients, they vitalise and refresh the scalp. The application is easy: Apply the tonic to the damp or dry scalp, gently massage and do not rinse.

Get into the habit of paying intensive attention to your scalp once a week. Remember: If you want your hair to grow longer, thicker and healthier, give your scalp the right care
