Superfood: 5 Boosters for healthy skin

Superfood - avocado, acai, green tea and more for healthy skin!

Avocado, acai and their friends are on everybody’s lips - literally. These «superfoods» are considered true miracle substances thanks to their high concentration of nutrients. They help to combat fatigue, prevent cardiovascular problems and even work as an anti-aging agent for the body. So it’s no wonder that the beauty world is taking advantage of the health effects of these foodstuffs. Because substances that are particularly effective from the inside also give health on the outside a real boost! Some of these superfoods are also particularly suitable for use in cosmetics. Which ones, you ask?

Avocado - for even, firm skin

Skin likes the taste of avocados! Products with avocado are rich in vitamins A and E and have a high fat content. Avocado oil therefore has several positive effects on the skin: it strengthens the protective barrier, has an antioxidative effect and protects against free radicals, while providing skin with plenty of moisture. The result? Even, smooth skin with more elasticity.
Plus: avocado oil is not only a popular ingredient in face cremes, it’s also excellent for caring for nails and hair.

Acai - an anti-aging miracle weapon

Acai berries, which originate from South Africa, contain a concentrated load of active ingredients. So it’s no wonder that the health conscious swear by their acai bowl for breakfast. Products with acai oil also has a rejuvenating effect in face masks, lip care and even shampoos. Vitamins A, B and E, calcium, iron, zinc and many more have an antioxidative effect, meaning that they help to slow skin aging. Extracts of acai berries not only rejuvenate, they also provide moisture - making them perfect for dry skin.

Manuka honey - calms stressed and impure skin

Honey is an ancient beauty agent - Cleopatra herself swore by honey masks. No wonder: honey is known to be anti-inflammatory and provides moisture. What makes manuka honey so special? It comes from manuka flowers, making it highly anti-bacterial and antioxidative. This makes products with manuka honey the perfect agent against skin impurities and subcutaneous spots.

Kale - evens out pigmentation marks and refines the complexion

Kale is the bedrock of superfoods. The reason for this are «phytonutrients». These occur in kale in abundance and work against free radicals. So products with kale also combat sun damage to the skin, for example. Vitamins A, C and K also create an even complexion, minimise pores and combat pigmentation marks. An added bonus? Similarly to manuka honey, kale is also anti-inflammatory, so it calms the skin.

Green tea - a blessing for irritated skin

Another classic that has made its way from the kitchen to the bathroom is green tea. Green tea extract has been ascribed a healing effect for millennia. So it’s no surprise that it was also quickly used as a secret skin care weapon. Products with green tea have an anti-bacterial effect and is particularly calming, making it a popular agent to combat psoriasis, rosacea and eczema - and inflamed, impure skin also welcomes a green tea treatment.

Superfoods don’t just belong on your plate, but also in your bathroom cabinet - meaning the powerful substances have a double effect!
