Behind the Name

Kiyo is a Japanese name meaning "pure." This purity and naturalness can be found in all Kiyo products.

"How is it possible that we've been brushing our teeth multiple times a day since childhood, yet we have no idea what's in toothpaste?"

This question lingered with the two founders, and after extensive research, one thing became increasingly clear to them: Many ingredients in conventional toothpaste may do their job, but they are often very harmful or aggressive to both humans and the environment.

We don't want these ingredients in our bodies or in the environment, so the founders sought a compelling alternative. Unfortunately, these were either associated with single-use plastic or cumbersome to use. So, they took matters into their own hands with the goal of creating effective, natural, and environmentally friendly oral care products.
